Before Provisioning (The years in Fortress Hill)

本會會長梁林開牧師致函教育署,申請將堡壘山官立小學改建成衞理中學。

Reverend Leung Lam Hoi, the President of the Methodist Church HK, wrote to the Education Department to apply for the conversion of Fortress Hill Government School into Wesley College

1977

1977

梁林開牧師擔任本校創校校監

Reverend Leung Lam Hoi served as the Founding Supervisor of the school

丘維清先生擔任創校校長

Mr. Yao Wai Ching served as the Founding Principal

開設四班中一學生及聘任五名教師,包括林嚴莊、丘慧萍、潘廣煜、陳玉芝及謝麗珍老師。

Set up four S.1 classes and recruited five teachers, including Mr. Lam Yim Chong, Ms. Yao Wai Ping, Mr. Poon Kwong Yuk, Ms. Chan Yuk Chi, and Ms. Tse Lai Chun

於九月十四日借用衞理小學校舍開課

Borrowed Methodist Primary School premises to start classes on September 14

於九月二十九日正式在砲台山的校舍上課

Classes officially started at the school building in Fortress Hill on September 29

每星期的周會在北角衞理堂的禮堂舉行

校長榮休,張志賢先生擔任本校第二任校長,並開辦中六理科班。

Mr. Yao retired. Mr. Cheung Chi Yin served as the second Principal of the school and opened Science Stream for Form 6 students

1988

曹潤斌先生擔任本校

Mr. Tsao Jin Ping served as the School Supervisor

由不平衡班級結構,改為廿四班平衡班級結構。

Changed to a 24-class structure from the original unbalanced class structure

1989

吳伯齡先生擔任本校監,張志賢校長移居澳洲,由林嚴莊主任擔任署理校長。

Mr. Wu Po Ling, JP served as the School Supervisor. Principal Cheung Chi Yin moved to Australia. Mr. Lam Yim Chong served as the Acting Principal

1990

羅世光先生擔任本校第三任校長,正式成立行政委員會,策劃及推動校政。Mr. Lo Sai Kwong served as the third principal of the school and formally established an administrative committee to plan and promote school administration

1992

於中六班開設「中國語文及文化科」、「應用數學」及「中國歷史」等高級補充程度會考課程。

Provided Advanced Supplementary (AS) level subjects such as "Chinese Language and Culture", "Applied Mathematics" and "Chinese History" in S.6

 

遷校後(小西灣時代)

After Provisioning (The years in Siu Sai Wan)

 

1993

政府將新校舍移至柴灣小西灣,成為小西灣區第一間中學。增開兩班中班中四,提供更多學額予區內學生。中及中二級設雙班主任制,以加強對低年級的照顧。

The government relocated the new school building to Siu Sai Wan, making it the first secondary school in Siu Sai Wan District.

The increase in intake of two more S.1 classes and one more S.4 class provided students in the district with more school places.

In addition, a dual class teacher system practiced in S.1 and S.2 strengthened care for the lower grades.

舉行獻校感恩崇拜暨第十三屆畢業典禮,由黃星華教育署署長為新校揭幕,會長梁林開牧師證道。

During the Thanksgiving Service cum 13th Speech Day, the new school building was unveiled by Dr. Wong Shing Wah, the Director of Education. Reverend Leung Lam Hoi delivered a sermon at the ceremony.

1995

縮減班中五,完成「6-6-6-4-4-2-2」之班級結構。成立了「教師培訓」及「SMI推動小組」,提高本校教師的團隊精神及在教育專業上不斷求改進。本校獲准參加第一期之「學校改善計劃」。

To form a class structure of “6-6-6-4-4-2-2”, one S.5 class was reduced.

Two teams, “Teacher Professional Development” and “SMI Promotion Team” were formed to enhance team spirit among teachers and encourage teachers’ continuous pursuit of improvement in their profession.

Our school participated in the 1st phase of the “School Enhancement Program”.

1997

林崇智牧師擔任本校監。

慶祝創校20周年,除舉辦感恩崇拜及開放日等一連串活動外,並於操場植樹,以作紀念。
本校推行「學校管理新措施」(SMI)

Reverend Lam Sung Che served as the School Supervisor.

To celebrate the 20th anniversary of establishment of the school, the school did not only organize a series of thanksgiving services and open days but also planted trees at the playground for commemoration.

The school implemented “School Management Initiative” (SMI).

1998

由中一級開始轉用母語教學,並成立學術發展組及公民教育組,統籌教學及公民教育工作。

參加外籍英語教師計劃(NET Scheme),加建英語自學中心。

Starting from S.1, the school switched to mother-tongue teaching.

Moreover, the school established the Academic Development Team and Civic Education Team to coordinate teaching and civic education.

The school participated in the NET Scheme, and an English self-study center was added as a new facility.

1999

減收班中一,逐步調較至5-5-5-4-4-2-2」之班級結構。

To gradually adjust the class structure to “5-5-5-4-4-2-2”, one S.1 class was reduced.

2000

第一屆校友會成立。

家長會成立,為學校與家長合作展開新一頁。
由本校老師自編課程,在中一級開設綜合人文科(社會教育科),逐步推展至中二級。

The Alumni Association was established.

The Parent-Teacher Association was established, opening a new chapter for the cooperation between the school and parents.

Teachers developed a curriculum for S.1 Integrated Humanities (Social Education), which was gradually extended to S.2.

2001

設早讀課,使同學養成恆常的閱讀習慣。
增設學術活動日,讓學生走出課室,從體驗中學習。
增設學科周,豐富學生課堂外的學習經歷。
Morning reading lessons helped students cultivate a consistent reading habit.

Academic activity day allowed students to walk out of the classroom and learn from experience.

Subject Week enriched students’ learning experience outside the classroom.

2002

慶祝創校廿五週年,舉行開放日及一連串慶祝活動。成立學生事務組,統籌學生成長工作。

To celebrate the 25th anniversary of the school, an open day and a series of celebrations were held.

A student affairs team was set up to coordinate the work of students’ development.

2003

中一級開始分階段推行「學生剪影」按年漸次推廣至中七級,塑造學生成為「我們心目中的衞理人」。

“Student Profile” was implemented from S.1 and gradually extended to S.7 on a year-on-year basis, shaping students to become the real Wesley Students.

2004

本校接受邀請成為首批一百所自評/外評學校經教統局外評人員數天駐校進行評審後,在全部十四項指標中,本校共有四項取得4分滿分之優異成績,其餘均屬良好

The school accepted the invitation to become the first 100 schools to conduct External School Review (ESR)/School-self Evaluation (SSE). After several days of evaluation by the external evaluators from the Education and Manpower Bureau, the school got full marks (4 out of 4) in 4 items among all 14 indicators, while the rest are at good standard in average.

2005

學生於公開考試中有良好表現,教育統籌局李國章局長親臨本校為應屆會考生打氣,並親自派發成績單給優異同學。

Students performed well in the public examination. Mr. Li Kwo Cheung, Director of the Education and Manpower Bureau, visited the school to cheer for the candidates and handed out transcripts to outstanding students in person.

2006

霍文健先生擔任本校監。
榮獲基督教服務處頒發「2006卓越關愛校園」獎項。

Mr. Fok Man Kin, Simon served as the School Supervisor.

The school won the 2006 “Caring School Award” from the Hong Kong Christian Service.

2007

林崇智牧師擔任本校監。
慶祝創校三十週年,舉行感恩崇拜、師生同樂日等一連串慶祝活動。

推行新時間表及考測制度,進一步為新學制作預備。

Reverend Lam Sung Che served as the School Supervisor.

To celebrate the 30th anniversary of the establishment of the school, a series of celebration activities were held, such as thanksgiving services, Fun Day for teachers and students.

A new timetable and assessment system were implemented to further prepare for the new academic structure.

2009

學校機械人隊代表香港參加在新加坡舉行的亞洲區賽(Vex Asian & Pacific Championship) ,本校勇奪冠軍並代表亞洲區參加在美國舉行的世界賽。

The school Robotics Team represented Hong Kong in the Vex Asian & Pacific Championship held in Singapore. The school team won the championship and represented Asia to compete in the World Championship in the United States.

2010

隨著「教學語言微調方案」落實,學校在初中每級開設三班「彈性班」,即以英語為主要教學語言的班級。

學校在第二輪「校外評核」中備受肯定。學校在「行政」、「學與教」、「校風及學生支援」、「學生表現」四方面均獲得十分優良的評價。
Along with the implementation of the “Fine-tuning the Medium of Instruction (MOI)”, the school offered three “flexible classes” at junior levels, namely classes using English as the main medium of instruction.

The school was highly recognized in the second round of “External School Review (ESR)”. The school received excellent evaluations in four areas: “Management and Organisation”, “Learning and Teaching”, “Student Support and School Ethos”, and “Student Performance”.

2011

簡祺標牧師擔任本校監。
本校榮獲「最和諧家校合作大獎」。

Reverend Kan Kei Piu served as the School Supervisor.
The school won the “Most Harmonious Family-School Cooperation Award”.

2012

慶祝創校35週年,舉行感恩崇拜、學校開放日及其他慶祝活動,並在校園樹立「蚌中明珠」雕塑。

To celebrate the 35th anniversary of the establishment of the school, the school held thanksgiving services, school open days, and other celebration activities. A sculpture portraying “a pearl inside a clam” was set up on the campus.

2013

榮獲「最積極推動生命教育」主題大獎(香港基督教服務處主辦)

The school won the theme award of “Most Active Promotion of Life Education” (Organized by Hong Kong Christian Service).

2015

藍正思先生擔任本校第四任校長,以團結師生,共同建立衞理中學成為「一所讓人看得見基督的卓越學校」為目標。
學生再次在世界青少年機械人挑戰賽取得佳績,取得香港區代表資格到美國比賽。
Mr. Nam Ching Sze served as the fourth Principal of the school. Mr. Nam set his goal to unite teachers and students, jointly building Wesley College into an extraordinary school where people can be witnesses of Christ. 

Once again, the students achieved excellent results in the World Robot Cup (Junior) and were qualified for representing Hong Kong to compete in the United States.

2016

新圖書館落成,師生合力將圖書由7樓傳送至1樓,同心建立新校園,標誌學校新文化(更新、卓越、關愛)
「學生剪影」重新定位,以「個人品格與視野」、「身心靈健康」、「服務精神」及「發展個人才華」四個範疇,培育衞理人成為未來社會領袖。

獲教育局批准在校內興建升降機。
The new library was completed. Teachers and students worked together to transfer books from the 7th floor to the 1st floor. They, together, built a new campus, demonstrating the school’s new culture (renewal, excellence, and care).

“Student Profile” was repositioned according to four categories: “Personal characters and Vision”, “Physical Wellbeing and Mental Wellbeing”, “Spirit to Serve”, and “Talent Development”, aiming to nurture Wesley students to be future leaders in society.

The Education Bureau approved the school to construct a lift on campus.

2017

學校以「愛與夢想飛翔」為主題,慶祝創校40周年,並舉辦一連串校慶活動。
學校新設施陸續完成,包括新宗教室(天閣)、學生自修室、校園電視台、新教員室、教員休息室、學生活動中心、通識室、英語學習中心(WE Lab)、空中花園及室內運動及藝術中心。

The school celebrated its 40th anniversary with the theme of “Soar with Love and Dreams” and organized a series of school celebration activities.

The school’s new facilities were completed successively, including the new Religious Room (Heavenly Lodge), Student Self-study Room, Campus TV Station, new Staff Room, Teachers’ Common Room, Student Activity Center, General Studies Room, English Learning Center (WE Lab), Sky Garden and Indoors Sports and Arts Center.

2018

優化課程及語言政策,包括中開設「綜合表演藝術」課程、高中各選修科組別推行單一教學語言政策。

成立生命教育組,進一步統籌及推展生命教育工作。

   The school optimized the curriculum and language policy, including the introduction of “Integrated Performance Arts (IPA)” in S.1, and the implementation of a single medium of instruction policy for each elective subject group in senior level.

   Life education team was established to further coordinate and promote life education.

2019

成立STREAM小組結合科學、科技、閱讀、工程、數學及視覺藝術元素,推動STREAM教育。

因受新型冠狀病毒情停課影響,學校推行「遙距學習」,分階段透過網上課業及教學錄像推動自主學習,並逐步加入實時視像課堂,以期學生「停課停學」。

The STREAM committee, consisting of Integrating Science, Technology, Reading, Engineering, Mathematics and Arts, was established to promote STREAM education in the curriculum.

 

Affected by the suspension of classes due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the school implements "distance learning", and gradually organises live video classes from online assignments and self-study in stages, so that students can keep learning and achieve "suspending classes without suspending learning".

2020

曾兆基先生擔任本校

加強課程銜接,除了在中及中二開設「音樂類」的OLE課程(IPA),中三及中四亦開設「非音樂類」的OLE課程,豐富學生其他學習經歷。加強課程銜接及豐富學生其他學習經驗。將中及中二的IPA課程與中三及中四的OLE課程結合,讓學生在音樂、藝術及外語作多元發展。

改善設施以配合STREAM教育需要,包括科創室 (Innovation and Technology classroom)文創室(Cultural and Creative classroom)及小型學習空間 (Mini Learning Hub)

Mr. Tsang Siu Kei served as the School Supervisor.

To strengthen the cohesion of the curriculum, in addition to the OLE music courses (IPA) available in S.1 and S.2, non-music courses are also offered in S.3 and S.4 to enrich students' other learning experiences.

School facilities were renovated to meet STREAM educational needs, including Innovation and Technology classroom, Cultural and Creative classroom and Mini Learning Hub.

2021

中四推行優化高中核心科目措施,加強課程內的選擇包括學生升高中時可選修23個選修科。

The school has implemented senior core-subject optimization measures in S.4, including the student enrolment in 2 or 3 elective subjects.

 

413室改建為文史室,並以「博約軒」命名。博約軒取自蘇軾「博觀而約取,厚積而薄發」,寄望同學能好好學習文史,多閱讀,多了解事物和累積識見,達至博觀精取之境。

Room 413 was renovated and changed to the Chinese Culture Room. The room was named after the great Chinese scholar, Su Shi’s poem. It is hoped that students can learn the language sensibly and comprehensively alongside its culture and history through extensive reading.
